I went to Kroger today, I bought:

4 boxes of Post Fruity Pebbles

2 Gal of Milk

I used two coupons:

2 $1 off any 2 Post Cereals

I Paid $6 for all the cereal and milk AND GOT A CATALINA BACK FOR $4 off my next order from Post!

It ended up being $2 for 4 boxes of cereal and 2 gal of Milk!!!

*I don't know when this catalina deal ends.

This week (right now!) there are a couple things going on that are FREE

At www.coupons.com you can print out a coupon for $1 off any Annie Chun's product. Well, these are in the organic section and are on sale for $1.99 ea. If you live in Genesee County your $1 off coupon will double which will make it FREE!

I got worried there for a little while because all the Bounty Basic Paper towels went missing from the shelves for about a week and I though to myself "There goes my FREE paper towel!" Well, Bounty re-designed their Bounty Basic and now it is $1.09 instead of $.98 each but, after coupon, it is still only $.09 a roll which is close enough to FREE for me. I saw a lady with this big organized binder of coupons who was buying the BIG pack of Bounty for $5.99 and was using the $1 off coupon for it. I had to ask, and I did ask, "Why are you buying that one?" and she said "Because with the coupon they are only $.50 a piece" - Rest assured that I showed her how to get them for $.09 a piece :)

Also, the Trident triple layer gum is finally in stock and FREE after $.75 off coupon.

Also, Gold Flour is on sale for $1.99 and at www. coupons.com you can get a $.75 off coupon for it. It states DO NOT DOUBLE but $1.25 for flour is still a good deal.

I did go to Walgreens tonight and pick up two FREE bottles of Purex Laundry Soap. They are on sale BOGO and I ordered BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) coupons to match up with the sale. Yes, the cashier gave me a hassle because she didn't know you could use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale but the manager finally told her it was fine. I had to explain to both of them that it was fine and eventually they saw the light.

I don't know if we didn't get that coupon in our area but I order them off ebay after I knew they existed.

Anyway-that has been my shopping so far this week!

This Saturday from 9 am to 10 am we will be having our second session of coupon class. We had two new faces at the last class and hopefully we will have more this week. These are the handouts I gave, one for the first week and one for the second week.

I enjoy getting together with other couponers because it gets me excited again about saving money. My husband and I have become foster parents to two kids this past year and once I got my second foster child my couponing went way down. I would still get a Sunday paper, but I had many up cut, unorganized coupons in January that were from October - December of last year! After our coupon class the first thing I did was go through my coupons and got rid of everything I didn't need because it was overwhelming. Then, that Sunday I picked up 2 Sunday papers and boy was I glad I did! Great coupons! Then, this week Meijer had a few great sales so I ended up going to Meijer 3 times this week, got tons of stuff for FREE and I did go to Kroger once too.

After class tomorrow I will be stopping by Kroger to do this deal I think.

I was so excited when I went to Kroger today and saw Tyson Chicken was on sale because I had 14 $1 off any fresh Tyson chicken coupons THAT EXPIRED TODAY!!!

I didn't even know if they were on sale or not but I just couldn't bring myself to let them all go to waste so when I got to Kroger and saw that Tyson boneless skinless chicken was around $3 a pkg I was THRILLED!

BUT you know what is annoying? My Kroger is now going over kill in enforcing their 3 coupon limit. You cannot break up your orders any more. On the signs stating they will now be enforcing the 3 coupon rule it actually said that you could check out and then come back in and buy more stuff. Really, I have your "permission" Kroger? That is so nice of you :)

So, yes, I did have to do 5 transactions SEPARATELY to get all this chicken but I only paid $14.49 for 14 pkgs of chicken. I love that. Totally worth the separate transactions Kroger.

After I saw how Vicki did at Wags this week I made plans to go do some deals-BUT THEN I got an email coupon for $5 off $25 at Wags I was VERY excited to go! I super planned my trip and had 2 lists and off I went!

Kmart is doubling coupons up to $2 again. I went today to see what I could get for FREE. Of course most of the shelves were cleared of the FREE items because I waited until so late in the week to go BUT I did find a few good deals. Here is what I got for FREE:

I had 3 $5 off $20 worth of toy coupons so I did some Christmas Shopping and got...drum roll please...$193 worth of toys for $41!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was really excited about it. It is awesome to get a $50 toy for $12.50, but then when you have a $5 off coupon on top of it it is even better! I would show pictures BUT how nice would it be for the recipient of the gifts to see them so I am not going to post any pictures :)

I got the $5/$20 coupons in kid's meals at Burger King. I guess those meals more than paid for themselves!

Oh boy, have I been a bad BAD blogger!!! Recently my family has been blessed with our first foster child & you would think I had never had a 2 year old before! I think adjusting to have 2 kids instead of just one is what my problem is, it hasn't stopped me from couponing but it has stopped me from blogging about it!

I have a sister-in-law, actually 2, that live down in SC and they both tell us about the great deals they get at Bloom when they triple coupons. Boy, have I been jealous! lol

When I heard VGs was tripling coupons I was excited, but my hopes where not real high because VGs is not my favorite store, their sales don't seem that impressive but whatever, I was still going to check this out!

So, here is what I got for under $30. My total was around $29 and I get about 27 items, and these are items that are usually about $3 a piece and I got them for about $1 ea.

Hidden deal at Meijers?

100 calorie packs of mini cakesters have been ringing up for me at the Burton, MI Meijer for $2.50 as of Tuesday. They are marked $3.17. I use the $1 off coupon found at coupons.com along with all the other kraft coupons and a $1 off coupon from the meijers meal box to get them for $.50 a box.

Is the Hassle worth it? Part3

Today I stopped at Kroger (mostly to pick up FREE stuff), Meijers (to pick up stuff we always need really cheap) and to Walmart (to pick up stuff for my son's birthday party!)

I have been keeping track of my spending this month and the first two weeks I managed to only spend $130.92 on groceries! That was awesome compared to the $200 - $250 I used to spend for 2 weeks worth of groceries.

I am in week three now and here are my number so far for the month:

Spent (for 3 weeks of groceries & a birthday party) - $211.90

Saved - $257.16

So far I have gotten $469.06 worth of groceries for $211.90!!! And 90% off that is all items that were on sale or marked down as well, if you added up the everyday prices it would be an even bigger savings!

This week I had to pick up pop, napkins, paper cups-plates-bowls and plastic silverware for the party and I included all of that in my Spent category.

So, this month I am monitoring my spending. At least in the grocery dept. :) In my last post

I explained how I often get asked if all my couponing efforts are worth it and I am proving this month that they are.

Here is an update:

Spent so far this month: $130.92 (for 2 weeks worth of groceries)

Saved so far this month: $192.53 (that is more than I have spent!!!)

I also have been picking up items for my son's birthday parties AND a baby shower I am throwing with in these numbers. I am happy with the progress!!!

So, I FINALLY broke down and organized my coupons. I am using a photo album and have separated it into categories and blah blah blah....it is so nice to be able to find the coupon I want while I am in grocery store though. It really is worth it even if organizing it is the boringest thing I have ever done!

Because of this darn book though I have people stopping me in the store, asking me where I get my coupons and how I organize them (if only they knew how UNorganized it still is they wouldn't bother asking). I do like helping people so I don't mind, I just can tell it is because of the book. I had a older man asking me about where I get my coupons and such. It was funny :)

I have so many people ask me if the time I spend clipping coupons is worth it. They look at my giant pile of cereal, shampoo, air fresheners and various other things and think I must be crazy and that I am buying things I don't need and won't use.

Yes, sometimes if something is FREE or the store pays me to buy it I may pick up something that we don't normally use. But, most of the time we use a lot of what I pick up. I did wonder though if I was still saving money even though I am picking up all these great deals so I decided that in May I will keep track of all my receipts and make sure I am saving money, not just getting tons of really good deals :)

So far, for our first weeks worth of groceries I spent $71. 65. Before I started using coupons I had gotten up to spending anywhere between $100 - $125 a week on groceries.

Next I wanted to figure out how much I had saved. So I added up ONLY how much the coupons saved me, I did not include the sales prices as money I saved because if I had no coupons I still would have saved that money. So far I have saved $104.98 this money JUST USING COUPONS!

Spent: $71. 65

Saved $104.98

Not too bad!!!

You know, it is amazing to me how many stores & employees have no idea what their own coupon policies are. They seem to make them up as they go, and it makes it hard to want to shop there or hard for the cashier to check people out and keep the line moving.

Anyway, I went to Walmart (yes, that may have been my first mistake :) ) the other day and had some coupons I wanted to use. One of them was the one pictures above. Yes, I got this coupon from a blinkie at Kroger. Yes, I made sure I bought 2 so I could save $1.00. And, yes, it turned into a huge hassle.

The cashier had rang up my items and then I handed her this coupon, she tries to scan it and it beeps. She calls a manager to see if she can use the coupon, the manage calls back and says that because the coupon doesn't say "Manufacturers Coupon" right on it they can't take it. I say "ok" because I have already held up the line long enough and just pay.

But, if you know me, that isn't the end of it. I read the back of the coupon one more time before I walked over to the Customer Service desk. This was CLEARLY a manufacturer's coupon that was to be sent in directly to Kraft Foods. So, I went to the service desk and showed them that and they still didn't really want to do anything so I asked them to please call who ever they needed to to ask if I could use it after they read the fine print to them. After a 10 second phone call they got the ok to use the coupon and I got my money back. I was happy to "win" this battle because I knew I was right! I just wish there was an easier way to do it!

Kelli mentioned on her blog that Kroger had some Kelloggs cereal on sale that after coupons you can print from coupons.com made then $.18 ea.! I am glad she mentioned it because I need cereal and had not been paying very good attention to these coupons even though EVERYONE on the internet is raving about them!

This week, ending Sunday I believe, Kroger has Raison Bran, Apple Jacks, Frosted Mini Wheats, Fruit Loops & Corn Pops on sale for $2.18. Print out coupons for $1 off each at coupons.com and, after your coupons double, they will be $.18 ea!

Also, if you want to print more of them, coupons.com usually will only let you print 2 ea., you can print more from here.

I LOVE after holiday/season clearance! All my Christmas Trees I got for 75 % off along with most of my other decor. I would much rather be patient and get things for 75% off than pay full price just because I think I have to have it RIGHT NOW! :)

I went to Walmart in Grand Blanc on Saturday to see if they had any good deals. As I was about to check out I saw that all the left over Easter stuff was marked $.10 ea.~! I looked around and saw some plastic eggs filled with toys (12 pk for $.10 ), some egg dying kits ($.10 ea) and tons of Easter grass (they rang up $.05 ea).

I picked up all this for $.95 and have put it away for next year!

Have you noticed the new $1 aisle at Walmart? Yes, most of it has always been a $1 so it isn't worth rushing to the store over, but I did get these for $1 ea. and with my coupons for $1 off 2 I got them for $.50 ea.
They also had Capri Sun in the $1 aisle. They did not have the Sunrise version there, but $1 ea. is a pretty good deal. I picked up a few. I just couldn't get myself to pay $8 for a bunch of the SunRise coupons on ebay so I had to go with this deal :)

I *heart* Wags very much. They have great deals, money makers and Freebies. What else could I ask for? :)

Today I discovered I needed some Drano. You know, there is never a good way to discover this. Watching the water that should be going down the bathtub drain linger in the tub far too long is never a good thing!

Since I had around $7 on a gift card to Walgreens I decided to would stop in and get some drano (2 for $7 this week and get $1 in Register Rewards when you purchase 2). Today only they were also giving away these reusable grocery bags with any purchase! Print your coupon here.

I also read about this deal on Glade Candles here so I got one for FREE while I was there.

This week Edge Shaving Gel is FREE after Register Rewards (good luck finding any). I got 15% off all my purchases today at Wags so that worked out good too.

Boy is this a hot coupon right now. On ebay these Capri Sun Sunrise coupons are going for like $6! Anyway, if Kroger has these they will double your $1 off coupon giving you $2 off.

At Walmart they are $1.97 and after coupon they are $.97

Walmart still has Teddy Grahams on roll back ($2 ea.) and Ritz Bits Crackers on roll back ($2 ea.). If you need to use up those $1 off 2 coupons this is probably the time to do it!

Apparently I decided to take a vacation from real life longer that I expected! It is so good to be home after a wonderful vacation to Orlando and I am back and ready to hit some great sales!

This week at CVS:

The toothpaste and toothbrush were free after ECBs (if you don't know what ECBs are find out here) and the Purex was BOGO and I had 2 BOGO coupons! (coupons.com)

This week at Kroger, Suave shampoo & conditioner is $.88 ea. I used this coupon to get them for free (after it doubled) plus $.12 in overage per bottle I picked up! (on sale until Sunday)

Also, a while back I bought a bunch of these coupon off ebay thinking I would run across a great sale on them. Well, the best I have seen so far is Walmart has them currently for $2.00 a box on roll back. After the coupon you get them for $1.50 per box. Not free, but the best I have seen so far!

Right now at Kroger that have a funny deal going on. They have Cap'n Crunch and Life Cereal on sale 4/$10 and Quaker Chewy Granola Bars on sale for $2.20 ea.

When you buy 4 (mix or match) of the cereal and/or bars you get 3 gallons of milk for free.

Kelli & I have a few more things in common than we knew about before getting partnered together for the coupon class. One thing Kelli does currently is make cakes! I have heard her cakes are amazing (esp. the german chocolate and neapolitan), I think she is going to have to make me one some time! Anyway, the reason I mentioned that we have things in common is because I used to make cakes too! When I was in high school I worked at The Oxford Village Bakery and I loved watching the ladies make all the cakes. I didn't make the cakes and in fact the first time I tried writing on a cake (Happy Birthday) it looked horrible and the second time I spelled birthday wrong!

Well, a couple years after leaving the bakery, after I had had my son Kobe, I decided to start decorating cakes. I really had a lot of fun doing it and got good enough that I started making wedding cakes for people as a business.

Sunday Morning-hitting the Pharmacies

This morning I am at home because my son is sick :( He is getting better though so no worries. Anyway, before my husband left for church I ran out to CVS & Walgreens to hit some of their good deals this week. I like to go while they still actually have some of the product that is on sale. You know those ladies that use coupons just wipe the shelves clean...wait, I guess I am talking about myself :)

I ended up paying $21.40 for all this stuff. That is not that good for me to tell you the truth, but I messed up one of my deals and it ruined the whole thing. I bought 28 items, so I guess less than $1 per item isn't that bad :)

Walgreens:

What is free this week:
Garnier Fructis products are on sale for $2.99. In the Walgreens Easy Savor Catalog there is a $2 off coupon on any Garnier Fructis product. You can pick up this Catalog any time you go to Walgreens. They are right by the weekly flyer. Anyway, so once you use the $2 off coupon you only owe $.99. Well, I had lots of Garnier coupons to get rid of! I had 4 for $1 off any styling product and 3 for $1 off any shampoo or conditioner! I used those and then the total I actually had to paid was $1.19 for tax.

CVS:

What's free this week:
Earlier I posted about the good deals at CVS this week, I ended up getting a $10 off $50 coupon which I think made me go a little crazy. I thought that the cereal deal had a limit of three and it was really only a limit of one, but it was still an OK deal and I didn't want to be a pain and make them re-ring me up so I just took it all.

I ended up paying $24.21 in cash & $8 in ECBS and got $14 back in ECBs to spend next time so I ended up spending a total off $18.21 for all this stuff. Not too bad. Lets see how much I saved!

9 cereal products on sale for 3/$10 = $30

2 Palmolives $1.49 ea. = $2.98

1 Vasaline Lotion = $3.69

Vitamins = $2.99

2 newspapers $1.50 ea. = $3

2 Laundry Soaps BOGO = $6.99

1 Mouth wash = $2.99

2 candy bars = $1

That equals $53.64 + $3.21 in tax.

I paid $24.21 and got back $13.99 in ECBs.

That means I saved $32.64! More than half off!

March 7th Kelli & I held our first coupon class at our church "The Point"! It was so fun! If you are one of the ladies that came I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed having you and we look forward to getting to know and hopefully saving you some money!!!

I enjoyed also hearing from our "coupon maven" student who will hopefully teach me a thing or two! I would love to hear from you guys and hear any thoughts you have on the class and what we could do to help you learn more about couponing!

Not the best cereal deal I have ever seen BUT if you need cereal this week it might be an ok deal! 3/$5. I got a $1 off 2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch coupon that would go nicely with this deal.

Get 2 $1 off coupons here making this laundry soap $2.50 ea.!

I know there have been coupons for Palmolive but I think all mine are expired! Still on ok deal, $.49 ea.

Sales and Coupons this week (big yawn as far as I'm concerned!) :)

I wen to Meijer this morning and their sales were not interesting at all to me, Kroger was OK today, nothing amazing.

They are having a sale in which you get $5 off you order in you buy 10 qualifying items.

Here are the ones I liked:

I bought 2 Pillsbury Toaster Strudles. $1.49 ea. (because of the $5 off). I used 2 $.35 off coupons which doubled making these $.79 ea.

I bought 2 Freschetta Pizzas. $4.27 ea. (because of the $5 off) I used 2 $1 off coupons that doubled making them $2.27 ea.
In the sale they included tiny Haagen-Dazs, Kroger brand ice cream and Nestle Lemon Ice. They ended up being $.49 ea. because of the sale. I had no coupons for these.
Tropicana is on sale for $2.39. I used a $1 off 2 coupon that doubled getting them both for $1.39 ea.

Those were the best coupon match ups I saw this week. I bought other things too that I had coupons for but nothing worth mentioning. Yopait yougurt is on sale for $.67 ea. and there are plenty of coupons around for that too.

Kroger and other stores that do catalina deals have a pillsbury deal going on.

If you buy 3 pillsbury products you get a coupon back for $1.50 off your next shopping trip.

Buy 4 products and get a coupon for $2 off your next shopping trip.

Buy 5 products and get a coupon for $3 off your next shopping trip.

I bought 10 products ($1 ea. - sale at Kroger)

used 6 $.25 off of one pillsbury product coupons (they all doubled)

and I used 2 $.35 off any 2 pillsbury product coupons (they doubled too)

I paid $5.69 oop and got 2 $3 off your next purchase coupons so technically they paid me $.31 to but all of these pillsbury products. :)

This will be going on for a while so if you can find some 10/$10 sales and have coupons that match you can get some free stuff!

I don't even have to be sarcastic when I say that! My Betty Crocker Four Cheese Potatoes rang up incorrectly AND one of my coupons did not double (coupon did NOT say DO NOT DOUBLE so it should have doubled) so, my rushed trip to Kroger turned into a longer trip than expected! At the service desk they check the price of the BC Potatoes and yes, they had indeed over charged me. Not only did I get $.84 back plus $1.00 for the coupon that didn't double but I also got another $5 because they over charged me!!! On the receipt they handed me at the service desk the $5 is under "Senate Bill" so you know there must be some law that requires them to give you that. I think I knew about this a long time ago and forgot-I won't forget again!

Here is my shopping trip to Kroger today:

6 Quaker Granola Bars (10 pack) - $2.20 ea.

2 Cottonelle toilet paper - $.99 ea.

Dreamfields Pastsa - $2.59

Kroger Tomato Sauce - $1.21

Muir Glen Tomato Paste - $1.59

3 Betty Crocker instant Potatoes - $1.25 ea.

Coupons I used:

$1 off 2 Cottonelle 4 pack TP - DOUBLED

(3) $1 off two Quaker Granola Bars packs - DOUBLED

$1 off any Dreamfield pasta - DOUBLED -this is the one that technically did not double

$.75 any Muir Glen canned product - DOUBLED

$.25 off any Betty Crocker Potato product - DOUBLED

$1 off 2 Betty Crocket Potato products - DOUBLED

I paid $12. 24 at the register, then got $6.84 back at the service desk!

Total OOP (out of pocket) : $5.40 !!!!

That is $.38 per item I bought, not bad!
